Bullhead City, Arizona (March 28, 2022) ̶ Laughlin International Airport/Bullhead Wings and Wheels Open House helps bring history to life with historic WWII C-53 D-Day Doll aircraft and two Army Foundation Aviation Heritage helicopters. “We are more than happy to bring these two organizations and their aircraft to our open day,” said LBIA Director Jeremy Keating. “It’s a great opportunity for the community to see and experience these historic aircraft up close and talk with the people who fly and care for them.

Open to the public from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, April 2, the Open House Celebration is located on the airport apron at Signature Flight Support, 2550 South Laughlin View Drive. Parking and admission to the event are free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. The Commemorative Air Force Inland Empire Wing’s WWII D-Day C-53D “Skytrooper” doll saw action in most of the major battles to liberate Europe from Nazi Germany, including the invasion of Germany. Normandy, Operation Market-Garden, Operation Varsity and the dropping of supplies encircled American troops in Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge.

The D-Day doll is accompanied by the CAF-Inland Empire wing’s living history exhibit, D-Day Experience, which brings history to life with re-enactments and hands-on artifacts for the public to explore. Wings and Wheels is also hosting the display of two helicopters from the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation, a one-of-a-kind national non-profit organization of veterans, their families and civilian supporters who work to obtain, restore and maintain in-flight state examples of historic aircraft representing the Army’s aviation from Vietnam to today.

Historic aircraft join over 30 additional vintage and contemporary aircraft provided by private pilots and aircraft owners for display. Pilots and crew from many exhibits will be available to answer questions.

More than 50 classic and cherished automobiles and motorcycles representing area clubs TG&A, Colorado River Corvette Club, Classic Low Riders, Women in the Wind, Patriot Guard Riders and Final Option Motorcycle Club will also be displayed on the apron of the airport. Vehicle displays are also provided by the Airport Fire Department, Bullhead City Police Department, and Bullhead City Fire Department.

Exhibits include remote control aircraft from the Colorado River Aircraft Pilots Society, LASS and Fun Flights RC Club, Apex Aviation, Arizona Aircraft Services, Arizona Pilots Association, Cactus Aviation Flight School, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Department K9 Foundation and the US Army.
