No trash pickup for El Pasoans on Thanksgiving weekend

Thanksgiving is filled with a lot of things. Turkeys, cakes, pies, cookies, tons of family members coming in to eat all that turkey and cookies and do it all in one day. All of this means that you are going to generate a lot of waste. During the vacation weeks, you might have more trash than usual, so knowing when you can take out your trash is an important part of your preparations.

I asked the city’s environmental services department for the garbage and recycling collection schedules over Thanksgiving weekend. Here is the response I received:

“The City of El Paso will not be collecting garbage on Thanksgiving weekend. The holidays will only impact customers who have trash cans collected on November 25 and 26. We ask those customers to take their garbage out. Gray bins on Monday, November 29. We will only be collecting gray bins on November 29. Affected customers should keep their blue bins until the next regular collection day. Please call me if you have any questions. “

If your garbage is usually picked up on a Thursday or Friday, you will need to keep in mind the changes that have been made. These changes are only made for Thanksgiving weekend. There is no word on how the trash can calendar will be handled during the Christmas and New Years holiday weeks, but as soon as we hear any news on these calendars we will let you know.
