March 22, 1952 ~ February 22, 2022
Dori Holzinger, 69, of Sturgeon Bay, died Feb. 22, 2022. She was born March 22, 1952, in Algoma to Frank and Colette (Gerhardt) Bohman. On November 17, 1978, she married David Holzinger at St. Mary’s Church in Algoma.
After graduating from Algoma High School, Dori earned an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from NWTC. For over 20 years, she operated a dog grooming business out of her home. She was great with all the animals big and small.
Dori loved horses, beaches and especially spending time with her family. She loved to cook and cook the family’s favorite foods and when she couldn’t cook for them anymore, she bought them thoughtful things. A very recent home delivery brought a 20-pack of miniature toy trucks, race cars, and children’s paintings and projects just for grandma and grandpa’s house. When she left for chemotherapy treatments, she would check the pharmacy knowing she had unique greeting cards to store for other people’s future events. Her holiday cheer began on November 1 with Christmas music. Her cards, letters and pictures spread her joy as they arrived in mailboxes early and were often the first of the season.
She is survived by her husband, two children, Ben (Brook) Holzinger of Rosemount, MN, and Abby (Greg) Schoeller of McFarland, WI; 5 grandchildren, Tessa, Landon, Edith, Kenna and Austin; sister, Georgia (Jim) Kneeland of DePere; and his brother, Mike (Mary) Bohman of Algoma; in-laws, Allan (Mari Ellen) Holzinger of Manitowoc; Tony (Denise) Holzinger of Manitowoc; Manitowoc’s Vicki (Guido) Lenaerts; Mary Kay Holzinger, Leuven, Belgium; Nia (Larry) Westover of Manitowoc; and Charmaine Holzinger from Denmark, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Jim Holzinger.
