Do you all remember when we got #TipTheHatTuesday videos from Randall King every week? Me too. It was a simpler time. Dude, we loved these videos.
While his schedule naturally has him too busy to do it every week for us, we’re still happy when an acoustic video of King pops up every now and then. One of our favorite Randall videos saw the country crooner give us a minute of pure country heaven, with a short, sweet cover of “Silver Wings” by Merle Haggard.
King’s latest release, “Record High”, is now airing on the radio. It follows his debut with a major in December 2020, Leanna. This project features fan favorites including “Hey Cowgirl” and “She Gone”, as well as a searing cover of the gospel standard “I’ll Fly Away”.
Last June, King opened a drive-thru concert that aired across the United States starring Garth Brooks. Wild, right? Over 350,000 people attended, setting the record for the largest one-night-only event in open-air theaters in North America.
“He’s a really amazing guy,” King told Garth’s Lonestar 99.5 FM. “I got to sit down and work with him and talk to him, and we wrote a song that’s on his new record.”
If you fancy more Texas and Red Dirt music, check out the Radio Texas, LIVE! application available on ANDROID or IOS. Music sounds great during the week at work or when you relax hard on the weekends.
If you haven’t yet, listen to my new podcast. Buddy Logan’s Aircheck features interviews with the biggest artists on the scene, including Bart Crow, Randy Rogers, Wade Bowen, Josh Abbott and more. It’s available to stream or download from Spotify, Google, Tunein, and, yes, pretty much anywhere.
