We come across so much on social media that has a negative effect – in other words, it puts a lousy taste in your mouth after reading it. The real life stories that share the kindness of others here at Bismarck / Mandan are what I love most – and this is your perfect Bismarck “Feel Good” story!
Yesterday on a hot lazy Sunday afternoon
Relaxing on the weekends is a must, and yesterday Sherri Lee Williams did what so many others do on a hot Sunday afternoon, she went to the zoo with her grandson Brooks, 4 and a half. Basking in the hot sun, boarding the mini train ready to navigate the park, Sherri made sure to share a bit of her life experience and warn Brooks of the ailments of being too careless – you see this young man bring his favorite toy. A little green monster truck tucked away in his hand.
The train blew when disaster struck
I’m not sure who or what to blame, if a ripple in the rails caused the mini-disaster or if it was something else – but the young man’s beloved toy left his hand and fell out. range. His cries were loud and sincere. Sherri could only watch – a hero without a cape was about to pounce
Fate presents us with a new hero
His name is Brayson, an older boy at the zoo with his family. This young man saw the little green truck fall off the train. Without any hesitation, he ran to grab the toy, then ran like the wind to try and catch up with Brooks. Let me Sherri explain the moment, as she posted earlier today on a private Facebook group page – “The train was passing by the buffalo, nearing the end of the ride, and out of nowhere this boy, red in the face of having run in the heat, reached out to hand my grandson back his little green monster truck. And then the child was gone. We were cheerfully shouting thank you so loudly in the hope that he could hear us “Sherri found out today who the boy was, her mom saw the post.
“A wonderful moment in life”
I saw this same message this morning and knew I just had to try to reach her. She told me on the phone “What a wonderful time in life that was for her” – Brayson ran all the way, through the heat, to get the toy back to Brooks. Sherri told me she hoped her grandson had learned something from it – This is how you are kind to others. As I was about to hang up with Sherri, she told me that Brooks “has a new real superhero” – me too, Sherri.
