The Followill brothers of the Kings of Leon mourn the death of their mother

The mother of three members of rock band Kings of Leon, Betty Ann Murphy, has died on the night of Friday, September 24 after the group canceled two concerts this week to be by their side amid an illness.

Drummer Nathan Followill and bassist Jared Followill went on to pay tribute to their mother in remembrance on social media, which can be seen below.

“My heart is broken,” Nathan writes. “My beautiful mother and biggest fan has passed from this life to the next. I will cherish the memories I made with her and her legacy will live on through me, my brothers and our beautiful families.”

Jared adds, “You were to me the strongest, sweetest, most beautiful woman in the world. You were a better mom and grandma than we deserved. I am. so proud that you are my mom. Always have been and always will be. I love you so much. I will miss you every day until I’m with you again. “

On Thursday (September 23), the group canceled two of their scheduled performances, including a September 24 appearance at the Ohana Festival hosted by Eddie Vedder this weekend in Dana Point, Calif., Due to what they called a “medical crisis” involving Murphy.

Betty Ann, who was the mother of Nathan, Jared and Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill, fell ill as the band toured the United States for the past two months. But it “got worse” earlier this week, forcing musicians to return home to see her “until the time comes to say goodbye,” they said in a statement. That meant Thursday’s concert in Mountain View, Calif., In addition to Friday’s one in Ohana, had to be canceled. The fate of KOL’s additional tour dates in October is currently unknown.

Our mom, whom many of our fans know and love, has been going through a medical crisis for several weeks and although it has been difficult to take the stage every night, it is the love and energy of you, our fans, that looked good on us.

Just before taking the stage at the Forum, we learned that she had gotten worse. It was a tough show to live with, but you supported us that night in a way we will never forget. Immediately after the show, we all returned home, where we will stay by his side until it is time to say goodbye to him. Our show tonight at the Shoreline Amphitheater and our appearance at the Ohana Festival this weekend are canceled but we wanted to say thank you to all of our fans, Eddie and the entire Pearl Jam family for supporting us during this time.

Kings of Leon – the three brothers and their cousin, guitarist Matthew Followill – were on the road to support their latest LP When you see yourself, which came into being in March. This is the group’s eighth studio effort, following previous ones such as Mechanical bull (2013), Only at night (2008) and Aha Shake Heartbreak (2004).
