Moving to a new home can be exciting and something to look forward to.
However, a schoolteacher in the UK encountered something scary in his new home.
According to a report on Echo of Liverpool, Jonathan Lewis saw a wire come out of where the previous owners had placed their refrigerator.
The 32-year-old just couldn’t figure out where the wire was coming from, so he knocked through the plasterboard under the stairs.
When the plasterboard gave way, he saw a gap inside. Upon closer inspection, he was surprised to see a rag doll sitting in space.
It’s really creepy!
What’s even scarier is the fact that the doll had a note on her lap.
“Dear reader / new owner, thank you for releasing me! My name is Emily. My original owners lived in this house in 1961. I didn’t like them, so they had to leave. All they did was sing and be happy. It was sickening. Stabbing was my death choice for them, so I hope you have some knives. Hope you sleep well, ”the note read.
It’s enough to get anyone to run in the opposite direction.
However, Lewis stayed despite his friends’ advice to move.
Lewis felt it was all a joke and he found it hilarious.
Lewis said the real estate agent told him the kitchen had only been done four or five years ago, and he suspects the note was left in the space at that time because the paper didn’t look very old either.
Lewis’s instincts were later found to be right.
After the publication of Lewis’ meeting in Liverpool Exco, the former owner stepped forward to explain that she was the one who left the doll and the note behind the wall.
The woman said the family were redoing their cooking in 2015 and came up with this “really fun idea” after a few glasses of wine.
She said they had completely forgotten about him and had no bad intentions.
She added that they lived there happily for 25 years and that the only things that died in the house were a hamster and a few fish.
We would have left the house immediately after discovering the toy!
